EasyNepal's national dish — lentil soup, steamed rice and seasonal vegetables. Simple, nutritious and eaten twice a day by most Nepalis.

Ingredients
- 12 cups red lentils (masoor dal)
- 22 cups basmati rice
- 32 tbsp ghee
- 41 tsp turmeric
- 51 tsp cumin seeds
- 62 garlic cloves, minced
- 71 tsp ginger, grated
- 8Salt to taste
- 9Fresh coriander
- 10Seasonal vegetables (spinach, potato, cauliflower)
Method
- 1
Wash lentils and rice separately until water runs clear.

Boil lentils with turmeric and salt until soft (20–25 min).

In a pan, heat ghee. Add cumin seeds, garlic and ginger. Fry 1 min.

Pour the tempered oil (tarka) into the cooked lentils. Stir.

Cook rice in separate pot with 1:2 ratio water. Steam until fluffy.

Stir-fry vegetables with salt, cumin and turmeric until tender.

Serve dal over rice with vegetables on the side.
