Nimsdai Foundation’s Project Horizon Receives Highly Commended Award at UK Charity Awards
UK: The Nimsdai Foundation, founded by world-renowned, record-breaking mountaineer Nimsdai Purja, has received prestigious recognition in the United Kingdom for its efforts to improve the lives of mountain porters and local communities in Nepal.
The foundation’s Project Horizon – A New Porter House for Lobuche received the Highly Commended Award in the Community Impact category at the National Charity Today Awards in the UK.
The recognition highlights the foundation’s commitment to improving facilities, promoting the welfare of mountain porters and supporting communities living in Nepal’s Himalayan region.
Supporting the Unsung Heroes of Mountaineering
Mountain porters play an essential role in Nepal’s trekking and mountaineering industry. They carry equipment, supplies and other necessities through challenging Himalayan terrain, making countless expeditions possible.
Despite their significant contributions, many porters face difficult working conditions and limited access to suitable accommodation and essential facilities in remote mountain regions.
Project Horizon aims to address these challenges by developing a new porter house in Lobuche, a key settlement along the route to Mount Everest Base Camp.
The initiative focuses on creating improved facilities for porters while contributing to the well-being of local communities.

बेलायत: विश्व कीर्तिमानी पर्वतारोही निर्मल पुर्जा (निम्सदाइ) द्वारा स्थापित निम्सदाइ फाउन्डेसनको ‘प्रोजेक्ट होराइजन’ले बेलायतमा प्रतिष्ठित सम्मान प्राप्त गरेको छ।
फाउन्डेसनद्वारा सञ्चालित ‘प्रोजेक्ट होराइजन – अ न्यू पोर्टर हाउस फर लोबुचे’ परियोजनाले बेलायतमा आयोजित नेसनल च्यारिटी टुडे अवार्ड्सको ‘कम्युनिटी इम्प्याक्ट’ विधामा ‘हाइली कमेन्डेड अवार्ड’ प्राप्त गरेको हो।
नेपालका हिमाली क्षेत्रमा कार्यरत भरिया तथा स्थानीय समुदायको जीवनस्तर सुधार गर्ने उद्देश्यले अघि बढाइएको यस परियोजनाले अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय स्तरमा महत्त्वपूर्ण पहिचान हासिल गरेको छ।
हिमाली भरियाको जीवनस्तर सुधारमा केन्द्रित परियोजना
नेपालको पर्वतारोहण तथा पदयात्रा पर्यटन क्षेत्रमा हिमाली भरियाहरूको योगदान अत्यन्त महत्त्वपूर्ण छ। कठिन भौगोलिक अवस्था र प्रतिकूल मौसमका बीच उनीहरूले पर्वतारोही तथा पर्यटकका लागि आवश्यक सामग्री ढुवानी गर्दै आएका छन्।
तर, पर्वतारोहण क्षेत्रको मेरुदण्डका रूपमा रहेका धेरै भरियाहरूले अझै पनि उपयुक्त आवास, आधारभूत सुविधा तथा सुरक्षित विश्रामस्थलको अभाव झेल्नुपरेको छ।
यही समस्यालाई सम्बोधन गर्ने उद्देश्यले निम्सदाइ फाउन्डेसनले सगरमाथा आधार शिविर जाने मार्गमा पर्ने लोबुचे क्षेत्रमा नयाँ भरिया आवासगृह निर्माण गर्ने परियोजना अघि बढाएको हो।
‘प्रोजेक्ट होराइजन’मार्फत हिमाली भरियाहरूका लागि आवश्यक पूर्वाधार र सुविधामा सुधार ल्याउनुका साथै स्थानीय समुदायको हितमा योगदान पुर्याउने लक्ष्य राखिएको छ।
